Job Description Optronics Systems EngineerLocation: Kent (Hybrid)Salary: 50,000 - 60,000 (dependent on experience)An established engineering company specialising in advanced electro-optical and precision sensing systems is seeking an Optronics Systems Engineer to join its multidisciplinary development team.The organisation designs and manufactures high-precision platforms used to integrate optical sensors into demanding operational environments. Their systems combine optics, precision mechanics, electronics and control software, and are used in applications where accurate sensor alignment, stability and calibration are critical.This role sits at the intersection of optics, mechanical engineering and systems integration, ensuring that optical sensors perform correctly once integrated into complex hardware systems.The RoleThe successful candidate will support the development and integration of electro-optical sensing systems from concept through to testing and delivery.Responsibilities will include:Defining and managing system-level requirements for electro-optical sensing systemsSupporting the integration of optical sensors with mechanical and electronic subsystemsDefining optical alignment and calibration proceduresWorking closely with mechanical and electronics engineers to ensure designs meet system performance requirementsSupporting prototype builds, integration and system testingInvestigating and resolving performance issues during development and validationWorking with external sensor suppliers to ensure successful integration into the overall system architectureSupporting verification and validation activities to confirm system performanceKey Skills & ExperienceCandidates should have experience working on complex hardware systems involving optics or sensor technologies.Relevant experience may include:Electro-optical or optical sensing systemsOptical alignment and calibrationOpto-mechanical or electro-mechanical system integrationPrecision instrumentation or sensor platformsSystem-level engineering in multidisciplinary environmentsExperience working with cameras, imaging systems, laser sensors, or other optical instrumentation would be beneficial.The OpportunityThis is an opportunity to work on high-precision sensing platforms within a collaborative engineering environment.
