The Star of Kings is a bustling three-floor venue (pub, beer garden, basement club) and were after an Assistant General Venue Manager who can run the show, especially during late-night events. What Youll Be Doing: Run day-to-day operations across the pub, beer garden and basement club, keeping service fast and the venue tidy. Lead shifts: produce rotas, brief teams, allocate roles and step in to cover when needed. Manage late-night events: control crowd flow, coordinate bar/service, oversee entry and queuing, and ensure smooth handovers. Supervise bar, FOH and security teams on shift; mentor staff and handle on-the-spot performance issues. Act as the GMs operational co-pilot: support planning, implement changes, and lead post-event debriefs and improvements. Ensure full compliance with licensing, SIA/security procedures, safeguarding and health & safety standards. Oversee stock control, cash handling, basic budgeting and supplier liaison. Respond to incidents and customer complaints escalate appropriately and complete incident reports. Maintain venue presentation: checks, quick fixes, and coordinating with maintenance/cleaning. Drive a positive guest experience: spot opportunities to upsell and keep service standards high. Who were looking for: A leader who excels in a high-energy environment and takes pride in delivering top-notch guest experiences. Have solid experience in busy, multi-area venues or nightlife. Can lead mixed teams calmly and confidently under pressure. Know licensing, safeguarding, SIA/security basics and H&S. Are happy working late, flexible shifts and weekends. Think on your feet, solve problems quickly and keep things organised. What We're looking for: 2 years minimum experience as a Venue Manager/Assistant General Manager in a high volume venue. A fun and engaging personality with a serious commitment to hospitality. Strong leadership skills with a passion for learning and development. Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting with guests, staff, artists/djs and reporting to the board. Understanding of stock, budgeting and GP levels.
