Job Description

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a growing renewable energy division, focusing on Solar PV and Air Source Heat Pump systems. As Head of Renewables, you will be responsible for delivering technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and commercial success across all renewable projects. The ideal candidate will combine deep sector knowledge with hands-on experience and a strategic mindset to scale the division sustainably. A profit share incentive is included, with potential for future equity participation for the right individual. You will play a central role in delivering projects with social housing associations, local authorities, and principal contractors under Wave 3 and other funded initiatives, driving forward the renewable agenda alongside other key pillars of the business.Key Objectives:Deliver high-quality renewable installations on time and within budgetEnsure full compliance with MCS, PAS 2030, and other relevant standardsDrive growth and profitability of the renewables divisionBuild and lead a skilled, motivated team of renewable specialistsContribute to strategic planning and innovation in low-carbon technologiesKey ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Operational Leadership:Oversee all Solar PV and ASHP installations across domestic and commercial sitesEnsure installations meet design specifications, safety standards, and client expectationsManage project timelines, resource allocation, and subcontractor coordinationImplement robust quality assurance and commissioning processesCompliance & Standards:Maintain full compliance with MCS, RECC, PAS 2030, and other industry frameworksLead audits, inspections, and certification processesStay up to date with evolving regulations and ensure team training is currentTeam & Resource Management:Recruit, train, and manage renewable installation teamsFoster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvementDevelop internal talent and succession planningCommercial & Strategic Growth:Support tendering, pricing, and commercial strategy for renewable projectsIdentify opportunities for innovation and expansion in low-carbon technologiesCollaborate with other departments to integrate renewables into wider retrofit offeringsClient & Stakeholder Engagement:Act as the technical lead for client consultations and project deliveryBuild strong relationships with suppliers, certifying bodies, and funding partnersRepresent the renewables division in strategic meetings and industry forumsKey Performance Indicators (KPIs):Installation quality and defect-free handoversCompliance audit pass ratesProfitability and margin performanceTeam productivity and training completionClient satisfaction and referral ratesGrowth in renewable project pipelineRequirementsExperience & Qualifications:Minimum 5 years experience in Solar PV and/or ASHP installationsProven leadership in renewable energy project delivery, specifically in the Retrofit MarketFamiliarity with the MCS processStrong understanding of building services, electrical systems, and low-carbon technologiesSkills & CompetenciesTechnical expertise in renewable systems design and installationStrong leadership and team-building skillsCommercial acumen and strategic thinkingExcellent communication and stakeholder managementCommitment to sustainability and innovationWhy This Role is ExcitingThis is more than a leadership position, its a chance to shape the future of a rapidly growing renewable division, take ownership of high-profile projects, and influence the strategic direction of the business.
