Building a sustainable tomorrowAny additional information you require for this job can be found in the below text Make sure to read thoroughly, then apply.We are recruiting a Senior Environmental Sustainability Manager - Technical Lead to provide overall leadership and direction for the environment function across multiple route sections on a transformative infrastructure project that will modernize a key rail corridor, boosting capacity, reliability, and regional connectivity across the North of England.The Senior Environmental Sustainability Manager - Technical Lead ensures clear accountability, drives compliance, and delivers consistent environmental outcomes in line with project, Client, and regulatory requirements. The role includes managing a multi-disciplinary team, strengthening BAMs in-house capability, and embedding a culture of positive, visible environmental leadership across the Alliance.The role requires a minimum site presence of four days a week, based out of offices in the Huddersfield area.Your teamBAM operates a flexible working policyThe role requires a minimum site presence of four days a week, based out of offices in the Huddersfield area.Making PossibleLead and manage the environment team covering multiple route sections.Provide line management to Environment Managers, Advisors, Apprentices, and Data staff.Administrative functions: 1-1s, regular team meetings etc.Mentor and develop BAM colleagues, creating clear progression and recognition pathways.Ensure third-party resources are positioned in supportive roles where they add value without driving critical processes.Ensure legal compliance and alignment with Network Rail standards (e.g. NR/L2/ENV/015) and client requirements.Work closely with the Environmental Compliance Manager to ensure successful ESMP sign-off and implementation, robust monitoring, inspections, and audits.Ensure timely, accurate, and transparent reporting of environmental data through the EPI Data Manager and Data Admin.Track and present performance against KPIs, identifying risks, opportunities, and lessons learned.Oversee and provide technical guidance on major environmental incidents and investigations.Promote continuous improvement in waste management and pollution prevention.Act as the primary environmental lead, and EPI reporting.Represent BAM in Alliance and client meetings, building trusted relationships with the PMO, Functional Director, regulators, and other stakeholders.Champion the environmental agenda across project teams, ensuring visibility and influence in decision-making.What do you bring to the role?A minimum of 10 years experience in RailCEnv and MISEP (or equivalent)Senior-level experience managing environmental teams on major infrastructurepreferably rail projectsNEC3 contract managementStrong knowledge of UK environmental legislation, client standards, and compliance frameworks.Proven leadership skills, with ability to motivate and develop colleagues at all levels.Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with credibility to influence senior leadership.Whats in it for you?Competitive salaryA wide range of family-friendly policiesCompany car/car allowance/travel allowance8 % matched pension contributionsPrivate healthcareLife assurance26 days holiday2 wellbeing days1 volunteering dayPersonal and professional developmentBAM Infrastructure is also committed to equality of opportunity in all its employment practices, and to developing policies that support work-life balance.TPBN1_UKTJ
