Job Description

We over see GP Practices and health centres, working closely with doctors, nurses and practice teams to drive up the standards of patient care, improve safety and patient experience, and support staff to foster a secure and positive environment. We produce evidence-based governance frameworks, and provide a bank of staff, advice and support to achieve safe, stable and sustainable services.All our practices are good or outstanding in CQC following recent inspections.At PICS we champion and support our GPs and Primary Care Networks and we form pathways between primary, secondary, social and community care. Our four practices are an essential part of our company.We have opportunities for caring GPs to join our multi-disciplinary team. We are looking for someone who has a can-do attitude and has a collaborative approach. We welcome GPs who have an interest in a specific speciality.The sessions currently available are:Monday - 4 sessionsTuesday - 4 sessionsWednesday - 4 sessionsThursday - 4 sessionsFriday - 4 sessionsMain duties of the jobKEY RESPONSIBILITIESManage caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care settingMaking professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self–referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisationAssessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problemsUndertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashionOpportunity to participate in extended access rotaKEY REQUIREMENTSFirst Medical Degree either MB or MBBS, plus one foundation year as a Medical PractitionerGP Specialist trainingGMC registrationRoyal College of General Practitioners membershipWorking knowledge of QOF, IIF and F12,EhealthscopeAbout usBENEFITS OF WORKING FOR PICSWe offer a comprehensive package which includes:We are keen to develop your professional portfolio. We are particularly able to support special interests in pain, gynaecology, respiratory and palliative care.A comprehensive support package including monthly clinical meetings, regular educational meetings, generous study leave entitlement and developmental opportunitiesJoin a caring culture and a company of can-do expertsJob responsibilitiesJOB PURPOSEThe post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESClinical:In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashionMaking professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self–referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisationAssessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problemsScreening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illnessDeveloping care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocolsProviding counselling and health educationAdmitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriateRecording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standardsCompiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand‑written prescriptions whenever possible)Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriateIn general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.AdditionalAwareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safetyA commitment to life‑long learning and audit to ensure evidence‑based best practiceContributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisationContributing to the development of computer‑based patient recordsContributing to the summarising of patient records and read‑coding patient dataAttending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.ConfidentialityThe post holder will:In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters.
