Job Description Lab Leader and Prosthetic Dental TechnicianLocation: OakviewSalary: 55,000 to 60,000Role Type: Full-time, split between laboratory leadership and prosthetic bench workThe OpportunityOur client is seeking an experienced Lab Leader with a strong background in prosthetic dental technology to take responsibility for the day-to-day performance, output, and leadership of a specialist dental laboratory.This is a hands-on leadership role, split between approximately 20 hours of operational/admin leadership and 20 hours of prosthetic bench work. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the wider team, managing workflow, communicating with dentists, maintaining quality standards, and contributing directly to prosthetic production.This role would suit a senior dental technician, department lead, lab manager, or experienced prosthetic technician who is confident leading people while remaining technically active at the bench.Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Leadership and OperationsLead the day-to-day running of the laboratory, ensuring work is delivered efficiently, accurately, and to a high standard.Manage workflow, priorities, turnaround times, and communication across the team.Support the delivery of commercial and operational targets, including productivity, quality, output, and profitability.Identify opportunities to improve processes, capacity, efficiency, and overall laboratory performance.Work closely with senior leadership to support site objectives and wider business initiatives.Maintain high standards across quality, compliance, health and safety, and internal procedures.Prosthetic Technical WorkCarry out hands-on prosthetic dental work as part of the weekly role split.Produce high-quality removable prosthetics, including full and partial dentures.Support technical problem-solving across prosthetic cases.Review work, advise colleagues, and ensure consistent standards across prosthetic output.Liaise with dentists on cases, adjustments, expectations, and technical requirements.People LeadershipLead, motivate, and support the laboratory team.Help build a positive, accountable, and high-performing culture.Support training, development, and performance improvement across the team.Provide guidance to technicians and help maintain strong communication between departments.Support staff engagement, retention, and succession planning where required.Qualifications and ExperienceGDC registration required.Strong background in prosthetic dental technology.Previous experience in a dental laboratory environment.Experience leading a team, department, or laboratory operation.Confident communicating directly with dentists and internal stakeholders.Strong understanding of workflow, quality standards, and laboratory performance.Skills and AttributesStrong leadership and team development capability.Technically confident in prosthetic dental work.Commercially aware and performance focused.Organised, practical, and able to balance admin with bench responsibilities.Comfortable driving standards, accountability, and process improvement.Strong communicator with a calm, professional approach.Resilient, motivated, inclusive, and team minded.SystemsMicrosoft Office 365, including Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.SummaryThis is a strong opportunity for an experienced prosthetic dental technician who is ready to step into, or continue within, a senior leadership role while remaining hands-on technically.
