The Engineering and Quality Apprenticeships at Amcor Heanor provide an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills, technical knowledge, and professional behaviours within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Apprentices will work alongside experienced professionals while completing a structured training programme and formal qualifications. Engineering Apprentice Role Description Key Responsibilities Support the maintenance, repair, and improvement of manufacturing equipment. Assist with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities. Learn to fault-find and diagnose mechanical, electrical or control system issues. Help improve machine reliability, efficiency, and safety. Use engineering drawings, manuals, and maintenance systems. Work in accordance with health, safety, and environmental standards What You Will Learn Mechanical and/or electrical engineering principles Safe working practices in a manufacturing environment Continuous improvement and problem-solving techniques Use of tools, equipment, and diagnostic systems Teamworking and communication within an engineering function Quality Apprentice Role Description Key Responsibilities Assist in monitoring product quality and compliance with specifications. Support quality checks, inspections, and testing activities. Help investigate non-conformances and customer complaints. Maintain accurate quality records and documentation. Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives. Promote quality, hygiene standards across the site. What You Will Learn Quality management systems Product specification and compliance requirements Root cause analysis and corrective actions Data collection, reporting, and attention to detail Professional communication within a quality function Training and Qualifications Apprentices will complete a nationally recognised apprenticeship standard, which may include: Engineering Technician / Maintenance & Operations Engineering Technician (Level 3) Quality Practitioner / Quality Control apprenticeship (Level 3 or equivalent) Training is delivered through a blend of on-the-job learning, college or training provider attendance, and workplace assessments. Interest in engineering, manufacturing, or quality Good communication and teamwork skills Willingness to follow safety, quality, and company standards. Typical progression routes include Electrical/Mechanical Engineer, with opportunities to further specialise in mechanical, electrical or automation disciplines. As experience and capability grow, engineers may move into Shift Engineer or Supervisory roles.
