Job Description FJ Booth Construction Ltd is a well-established and respected construction company, specialising in steelwork solutions across commercial, industrial, and bespoke projects. We pride ourselves on technical expertise, reliability, and long-term relationships with our clients and supply chain.Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team and play a key role in securing and delivering high-value steelwork projects.Role OverviewAs a Estimator, you will be responsible for leading the estimating function for structural and architectural steelwork projects, producing accurate and competitive tenders, and supporting business development activities. You will work closely with senior management, project teams, clients, and supply chain partners to ensure commercially robust and compliant submissions.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for steelwork projectsReview and analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentationProduce comprehensive take-offs and material quantitiesLiaise with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive and reliable pricingIdentify commercial risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutionsPrepare, review, and submit tender documentation within agreed deadlinesLead the preparation and submission of client prequalification questionnaires (PQQs), including maintaining compliance with ISO standards and managing accreditations such as Achilles and ConstructionlineSupport post-tender negotiations and provide clear handovers to project delivery teamsMaintain and develop estimating databases, rates, and cost benchmarksRequirementsProven experience in a Senior Steelwork Estimator or similar estimating roleStrong technical knowledge of steel fabrication and erection processesExcellent ability to interpret technical drawings and specificationsHigh level of commercial awareness and risk management capabilityProficiency with estimating software and Microsoft ExcelStrong leadership, communication, and organisational skillsAbility to manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectivelyDesirableDemonstrable experience working with main contractors and design teamsIn-depth knowledge of UK construction standards and regulationsHands-on experience managing ISO accreditation, Achilles, and Constructionline submissionsBackground in steel fabrication, engineering, or construction managementWhat We OfferCompetitive salary package (dependent on experience)Senior, influential role within a growing and ambitious company
