Speech and Language Therapist - DysphagiaLocation: GrimsbyHours: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm (flexible 8am–4pm considered)Contract: Permanent, Full TimeWe are recruiting for a Speech and Language Therapist to join a specialist Learning Disabilities and Autism service for adults. This is a newly created role, introduced to meet the growing needs of the service and to provide dedicated on-site SALT support.The ServiceSpecialist LD and Autism service for adults (18+)Mixed-gender serviceApartment-style setting (not a ward), made up of terraced apartments around a central courtyardMaximum capacity of 20 service usersSome individuals require single occupancy within two-bed apartments to meet their needsAll service users are detained under Section 3No current forensic casesFocus on progression to community placements (typically 1–2 years, though some stays are longer due to placement availability)Rated Good by CQC, with consistently positive regulatory feedbackEstablished MDT in place, including Occupational Therapy and PsychologyThe RoleThis is an excellent opportunity to shape and develop SALT provision within the service. You will:Deliver specialist SALT assessment and intervention for adults with LD and AutismSupport individuals with dysphagia and complex communication needsWork collaboratively within a well-established MDTContribute to person-centred care planning and positive outcomesProvide clinical supervision to a SALT apprentice (if experienced)Report to the Regional Lead SALT and Hospital DirectorEssential RequirementsDegree in Speech and Language TherapyHCPC registeredMinimum 2 years’ experience working with adults with Learning Disabilities and AutismDysphagia experienceAbility to work independently within a specialist settingDesirable ExperienceUnderstanding of sensory needsExperience using AAC and MakatonExperience providing clinical supervisionExperience working with individuals who have a history of traumaWhat’s on OfferSupportive regional and on-site leadershipEstablished MDT with OT and Psychology already in placeFlexible working hours (8–4 or 9–5)
