Risk & Compliance Specialist

Job DescriptionWe are working with a leading international law firm to recruit a Risk & Compliance Specialist based in London. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting the firms risk and compliance function, working closely with senior management to ensure all regulatory requirements are met while enabling smooth business operations. You will oversee daily compliance activities, including client and matter due diligence, supplier onboarding, and assist with investigations, insurance claims, and client complaints resolution. Providing practical risk and compliance advice to internal teams and liaising with legal advisors will also form a key part of your responsibilities.Our client is seeking a candidate with at least five years experience in a risk and compliance role within a regulated law firm environment. Strong knowledge of SRA regulations and AML compliance, particularly around KYC/CDD, conflicts, and sanctions, is essential.Responsibilities will include:Managing daily risk and compliance processes, including client onboarding and supplier engagementEscalating complex issues appropriatelyAdvising colleagues on compliance matters aligned with regulatory and policy requirementsAssisting in reviewing and enhancing the firms risk and compliance frameworkSupporting policy development and delivering compliance training to staffMonitoring regulatory developments and communicating their impact to the businessCollaborating with other departments to manage investigations and resolve compliance issuesLeading and contributing to risk and compliance projects with clear planning and stakeholder updatesProviding cover and support across the risk and compliance team as neededThe ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills, a confident and composed approach to stakeholder management, and a strong focus on delivering effective solutions. Attention to detail, organisational capability, and a collaborative mindset are also key attributes.
