Job Description We are seeking an experienced senior payroll leader to oversee payroll, pensions, and HR/payroll systems for a large, complex organisation. The role manages end-to-end payroll operations for 2,400 employees and ensures accurate, compliant monthly payments, statutory reporting, and excellent service delivery.The postholder will lead a small team, oversee multiple pension schemes, manage system configurations (including HR/Payroll and expenses platforms), and act as the organisations expert on payroll legislation, tax, auto-enrolment and pension scheme rules.Key responsibilities include:Leading accurate, timely payroll and pension administration across several schemesEnsuring compliance with HMRC, audit requirements, statutory bodies and internal controlsManaging payroll systems configuration, updates, testing and optimisationProviding expert advice on payroll, tax, pensions, early retirements and workforce changesOverseeing reporting, reconciliations, FOI responses and year-end submissionsManaging and developing team performance, embedding best practice and high-quality serviceCIPP qualified and ITrent knowledge/ experience Ideal candidates will have senior payroll management experience in a large organisation, strong knowledge of UK payroll and pension legislation, and experience with integrated HR/payroll systems.
