Job DescriptionMechanical FitterGt YarmouthFull time, PermanentMon Fri DaysSalary: 36,000 - 40,00027 days hol + BHplus ability to buy/sell additional leaveFamily Private Medical InsuranceAccess to other Flexible Benefits including Medicash, Life Assurance, Critical Illness, Bike2Work, Car Scheme, iPad scheme etcOur esteemed port services customer is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their small but well ran and friendly engineering team, based at the port of Gt Yarmouth.Purpose of the roleTo support the Engineering Business Unit Manager and Facilities & Infrastructure Manager in their objectives and be responsible for ensuring that day to day maintenance functions within the given role of the business unit, operate safely and efficiently, providing operational areas and the port estate an on-time service.ExpectationsJoin the Great Yarmouth Engineering Department, to safely and effectively complete planned and reactive maintenance work, ensuring all mechanical/maintenance equipment is compliant with current standards and legislation, with zero defects to maximise customer satisfaction.Main ResponsibilitiesCarry out hands-on preventative maintenance work on all mechanical and non-mechanical equipment in accordance with the Site Safety Rules set out by the compamnyWork to Group Safe System of WorkDeliver a safe personal working cultureCarry out the workload as stipulated by the Facilities & Infrastructure ManagerAttend to unplanned failures in a timely manner to meet reliability targetsComplete Work progress sheets to identify work activity and delaysReport parts and materials deficits to the Facilities & Infrastructure Manager without delaySuggest tactical decisions to Facilities & Infrastructure Manager to stay on scheduleDemonstrate commitment to multi-skilled activity where appropriateCover any other duties as and when requiredNotify the Facilities & Infrastructure Manager of all operational issues affecting delivery to plan without delayEnsure all mechanical work is carried out to meet Group Mechanical Site RulesRequired to plan own work to minimise time lostCommunicate accurate information to the Facilities & Infrastructure ManagerFoster good relationships with internal stakeholders in particular Operations Team and Marine TeamCarry out other general engineering duties as required by the Facilities & Infrastructure ManagerFor this role, we ideally seek:Mechanically biased with a strong understanding of hydraulic systems and excellent fault finding skillsThe successful candidate will be an assertive individual who demonstrates willingness to progress within the CompanyDemonstrate commitment to maintaining Health and Safety standardsMust be capable of working effectively under pressure in a critical, busy environmentUnderstand permit to work systems and accident reportingUnderstand and demonstrate commitment to safety policies and proceduresKnowledge of cranes and materials handlers extremely desirableFault finding and repair is an absolute prerequisite for this position.The role requires a dynamic and eager individual with a can-do attitude and willingness to get stuck in, accept change and make things happen.Knowledge and experience with relevant statutory requirements and legislation, including but not limited to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER, LOLER, and PSSR.Fundamental knowledge of electrical equipment e.g. logic controllers, instrumentations.Must be willing to multi skill electrical/mechanicalMust be willing to use fault finding diagnostic equipment to ensure reactive maintenance impact is minimizedKnowledge of effective maintenance strategies i.e. RCM, PM, CBM & TPM.Some maritime knowledge/experience desirableSome knowledge of CMMS or document sharing softwareEngineering experience in a heavy industrial environment e.g. port, process or manufacturingTime served Mechanical TechnicianQualified to a minimum ONC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalentQualification in Fabrication and Welding would be advantageousFirst Aid CertificationJBRP1_UKTJ
