Environment & Energy Officer – ManufacturingGloucester – Permanent – Full-time – 37 hours, Monday to Friday – Salary £50,000Are you an experienced environmental professional looking to make a tangible impact in a high-risk, high-performing manufacturing environment? Do you have a passion for compliance, sustainability, and data-driven improvements in both environmental and energy systems?We’re looking for a proactive Environment & Energy Officer to oversee the site’s environmental and energy responsibilities, ensuring compliance with legal standards while supporting ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 frameworks. You’ll play a key role in helping the business meet its environmental obligations and sustainability goals.The Role:Lead the day-to-day operations of environmental and energy management across siteMaintain legal compliance by identifying risks, implementing controls, and staying ahead of legislation updatesSupport delivery and retention of ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certification standardsDrive initiatives in waste minimisation, energy efficiency, emissions reduction and solvent usageCoordinate with internal teams and regulatory bodies such as the Environment AgencyCollect and analyse ESG and energy data to support reporting and compliance strategiesOversee hazardous waste processes and implement effective spill response practicesLead training sessions related to environmental risks, assessments, and mitigationAssist with environmental permitting and management plans including A2 Permit and Solvent ManagementPromote cross-functional engagement in sustainability, lifecycle assessments, and continuous improvementThe Person:Experience in environmental and energy management within a complex industrial or manufacturing environmentStrong working knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 systemsQualified to NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate or IEMA (or equivalent)Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skillsStrong understanding of environmental regulation and legal obligationsCapable of compiling reports, leading audits, and engaging with regulatory authoritiesProactive, methodical, and highly organised with a "completer-finisher" mindsetFull UK driving licence and willingness to travel between local sites when neededDesirable:Exposure to lean methodologies or continuous improvement toolsFinancial awareness in budgeting for sustainability and environmental programsBenefits:Competitive salary depending on experienceOpportunity to lead ESG-related activities in a global manufacturing businessDevelopment and progression within a strong HSEE teamPension, life assurance, and other company benefitsBe part of a forward-thinking business committed to operational excellence and environmental responsibilityThis role required candidates to have lived and worked in the UK for the previous five years and doesn't offer sponsorship.
