SolidWorks Furniture Design Engineer

We are looking for a SolidWorks Furniture Design Engineer to work permanently for a company based in the North West. The role offers a salary of 31,500 per year ( potentially negotiable dependent on level of experience), plus an early Friday finish (2:15 pm every week), 30 days' annual holiday (including bank holidays), choice of two workplace pension schemes, 20,000 life assurance after 6 months' service, and up to 50% staff discount on our clients bespoke products, for yourself, family, and friends. Working hours are 38 hours per week: MondayThursday 8 am4:30 pm, Friday 8 am2:15 pm. SolidWorks Furniture Design Engineer job details: To design, develop, prototype, test, and launch new furniture products for the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom sectors. The role combines creative design skills with technical manufacturing knowledge, requiring proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software to produce accurate technical drawings and assembly documentation. You will work closely with clients to understand their requirements, manage projects from initial quotation through to final delivery, and collaborate with internal teams, including manufacturing, purchasing, and data support. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES for the SolidWorks Furniture Design Engineer: -Design, develop, prototype, test, and launch new furniture products for the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom sectors. -Produce accurate technical manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks. -Create assembly drawings and Bill of Materials (BOMs) to support manufacturing and data teams. -Demonstrate appreciation and understanding of good design principles within volume manufacturing. -Deliver projects from initial quotation and concept stage through to final manufacture and delivery. -Meet with clients to understand and interpret their requirements. -Communicate professionally with customers, suppliers, and internal departments. -Work closely with purchasing and procurement functions, liaising with external suppliers. -Support the manufacturing team with technical drawings and specifications. -Support the data support team with BOMs and assembly documentation. -Work and communicate professionally within a team whilst under project time pressure constraints. -Identify new products and ensure efficient introduction of products. -Conduct industry and competitor research. -Research technological and manufacturing advancements relevant to furniture design. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS for the SolidWorks Furniture Design Engineer: -Degree in Product Design OR suitable proven industry experience in the furniture manufacturing sector. -Proficient in SolidWorks or other similar CAD software. -Strong furniture design background. -Good technical understanding of production and manufacturing processes. -Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. -Ability to learn quickly and work on one's own initiative. -Proactive approach to problem-solving. -Confidence to express opinions and views clearly. -Strong communication skills with confidence to communicate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams. -Willingness to pick up the phone and engage directly. -Flexible approach to work with a willingness to learn. -Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: -Knowledge of SketchUp software. -Knowledge of Revit software. -Full UK driving licence (occasional off-site travel may be required).
