At Altrad, we transform our nations critical infrastructure to operate safely and sustainably.With over 11,000 talented people, we provide the full spectrum of critical engineering and construction services for industries both onshore and offshore.Join a Leading Organisation in the Nuclear Industry.Role Details:As a Mechanical Engineer in the nuclear defence sector, you will support the design, development, and maintenance of critical mechanical systems for national defence infrastructure. You will ensure compliance with stringent safety, regulatory, and security requirements while contributing to reliable, high-integrity engineering solutions.Key Responsibilities:Develop and manage mechanical design and project documentation, including changes and concessions.Produce EIMT schedules, procedures, and supporting evidence to meet safety case requirements.Prepare and review safety reports and technical justifications for design modifications.Provide technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders.Undertake Independent Technical and Peer Reviews (ITA/IPR).Apply engineering principles in nuclear or high-risk environments.Review and verify calculations, technical reports, and safety submissions.Key Requirements:Essential:At least 5 years experience in mechanical plant and installation design assessment.Ability to produce clear, robust technical justifications.Strong engineering knowledge applied to existing and emerging technologies.Experience supporting multi-disciplinary projects.Relevant engineering degree.Incorporated Engineer status (or equivalent experience).Desirable:Experience within nuclear or similar high-hazard environments.Knowledge of full lifecycle engineering processes in high-risk industries.Familiarity with safety case development and hazard studies (e.g. HAZID/HAZOP).Chartered Engineer status.Why Join Us?Work on high-impact projects within a leading organisation at the forefront of the nuclear industry.Competitive salary and benefits package.Opportunities for career growth and professional development.Collaborative and dynamic work environment with a focus on innovation and excellence.
