We are seeking a Senior or Principal Safety Case Engineer. The Safety Case Engineer will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, the primary purpose of the role is to directly support current operations and future programmes. Supporting nuclear facilities & the delivery of services across nuclear licenced sites. The team consists of Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Building Services, Electrical and Piping Engineers who are responsible for the authorship, development, assessment, and maintenance of Engineering Design Substantiation for Nuclear Facilities, ensuring Design Intent, Critical Safety Factors and Safety and Operational Requirements are met and are consistent with current good practice and legislative/regulatory requirements. Responsibilities:Authoring, development, assessment, maintenance and management of Nuclear Infrastructure Design Substantiation documents.Authoring, development, assessment, maintenance and management of design changes/concessionsProduction and development of Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) Schedule, operating procedures and results to satisfy design requirements and safety case through lifeProducing/assessing Periodic Review of Safety reportsProviding advice and direction to internal and external stakeholdersProduction of Independent Technical Assessment (ITA)/Independent Peer Review (IPR) Scopes of workUse a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing and emerging technologyApply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate, maintain, decommission and re-cycle engineering processes, systems, services and products in a nuclear/high risk environmentProducing robust technical justification to allow for relevant design modifications to be authorised within a high hazard industryReview technical reports and other safety case submissions from external contractorsCheck and review calculations and technical documents written by other members of staffProfile requirements, essential:Relevant engineering or similar qualification.Strong experience in reviewing of Safety Case documentation;Provide safety case advice to internal and Contractor teams;Production of safety justification documents;Attendance at review and project meetings;Chair/facilitate safety justification maturity review meetings;Attendance at Hazard Identification Workshops, optioneering reviews and other stakeholder meetings;Familiarity with safety case development techniques e.g., HAZID/HAZOP studies;Must have experience of developing safety assurance strategies for complex projects and safety case delivery or assessment in a nuclear environment.
