COMPANY OVERVIEWOur client is a large M & E company in the UK, with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Warrington, Bristol and London. This allows them to successfully support nationwide contracts and the needs of their clients. Due to their on-going success and joining a M & E Investment Group in 2024, they are now recruiting for an experienced Estimator, covering the UK, who is keen to progress their career.JOB PURPOSEProduce accurate and high-quality tender bids in line with the commercial governance processSupport, maintain, develop, and build the estimating department in collaboration with procurementAct as the lead for the mechanical element of the estimating functionIdentify potential opportunities to increase revenue and margin, and pass leads through to the sales functionSupport the wider business as neededTake responsibility for the production of detailed tender bids, attend tender meetings, and conduct post-tender handover meetings to support my clients growth and development plansWhat youll be doingAnalyse tender specifications, schedules, and drawings to ensure sufficient information is available for accurate pricingIssue enquiries to suppliers and sub-contractors and evaluate returned quotationsTake off material quantities and apply relevant labour valuesProvide core costs and highlight any challenges or risks prior to submissionPrepare tender submissions in the required format and within set deadlinesAttend post-tender client meetingsPrepare internal handover documents and participate in handover meetingsMaintain and update supplier and subcontractor registersBuild and sustain positive client relationshipsSKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREDProven experience in estimating from a mechanical or electrical backgroundSolid background within the electrical services sector and understanding of contractingTendered and secured mechanical bids up to the value of 2m.Design experience (desirable).IT proficient - all key Office products, including Excel and estimation software to at least intermediate levelComfortable working with and producing schedules of ratesProven negotiation and communication skills at various levels from subcontractor through to clientHigh numeracy levelsMust have sound knowledge of all electrical systems and Commercial awarenessInstallers background (desirable).A positive attitude and professional approach to workHigh levels of self-motivation, reliability, and enthusiasmA collaborative and approachable personalityStrong customer care and interpersonal skillsA commitment to quality and a keen eye for detailA values-driven mindset its not just what you do, but how you do it that matters.
