Maintenance Electrician Location: Gateshead Salary: 48,300 Inc. 22.5% Shift Allowance Additional Payments: Overtime Monday - Saturday 1.5x/Sunday 2.0x & Annual Bonus. Job Type: Full-Time Overview: An established steel plate re-rolling company is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with an Electrical Bias to join its Engineering Department. The organization supplies a wide range of steel plates for use in various industrial sectors, including construction, bridges, and renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in heavy engineering and demonstrate strong communication skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Flexibility, attention to detail, and adherence to strict Health & Safety standards are essential. Shift Pattern: The role operates on a Continental Shift Pattern (42 hours per week): 06:00 18:00 and 18:00 06:00 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off (Monday to Sunday) Includes a 22.5% shift premium Key Responsibilities: Maintain plant and equipment, including reactive (breakdowns) and proactive (PPMs) maintenance. Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment and upgrades. Diagnose and resolve electrical faults, identifying root causes and communicating findings. Work safely at all times, following procedures, permits, and safety systems. Support continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate effectively with colleagues and subcontractors. Record activities accurately and refer to technical documentation when required. Comply with company policies and hand over incomplete work at shift end. Perform additional duties as required by the company. Person Specification: Essential: Minimum ONC/OND/HND/HNC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Maintenance/Electrical Engineering. Experience in: Electrical fault finding Heavy engineering electrical maintenance Installation and troubleshooting of AC/DC motors Single and three-phase supplies Ability to: Manage time and prioritize tasks effectively Communicate clearly (verbal and written) Work unsupervised and within a team Prepared to work at height Desirable: Knowledge of a wide range of motors, drives, and starters Experience with PLCs and HMIs HV switching qualifications Pyrometry experience 17th Edition training Ability to operate MEWPs and forklifts Crane maintenance experience Competence in basic MS Office applications Benefits: Competitive salary Pension scheme Generous holiday allowance plus bank/public holidays Private medical insurance TPBN1_UKTJ
