About This RoleResponsible to the Principal for:Ensuring all students receive exemplary safeguarding provision with an emphasis on:Following up safeguarding concerns appropriately, including referring cases of suspected abuse and neglect to the local authority children’s social care, cases to the Channel programme where there is a radicalisation concern, and cases to the police where a crime may have been committed. Work alongside the Principal to refer cases to the Disclosure and Barring Service when a person is dismissed or leaves due to risk or harm to a child.Collaborating with the Principal and senior management team to share information regularly, promoting children’s educational outcomes by understanding safeguarding and child protection issues affecting children in need, and assessing their impact on attendance, engagement, and achievement.Promoting supportive engagement with parents and/or carers in safeguarding and child welfare, especially in challenging circumstances.Ensuring safeguarding records and child protection records are maintained in line with statutory guidance, with an emphasis on:Keeping child protection files up to date with detailed records of concerns, actions, decisions, and outcomes, ensuring confidentiality and secure storage.Restricting access to files to authorized personnel and sharing information in accordance with KCSIE guidelines.Securely transferring child protection files when a child leaves the school, including confirmation receipt and timely transfer as per KCSIE, and considering sharing additional information beforehand to support the child's transition.Ensuring that adults working with children in the college have appropriate awareness, training, and support, with an emphasis on:Providing access to and understanding of the school’s child protection policy and procedures for all staff, including new, part-time staff, and ensuring governors review the policy annually.Sharing information about welfare, safeguarding, and child protection issues affecting children with social workers to promote educational outcomes.Supporting staff to feel confident in safeguarding and child protection matters, including delivering or facilitating training on safeguarding, online safety, filtering, and monitoring, and linking safeguarding concerns with academic issues.Ensuring effective filtering and monitoring systems in the school, with an emphasis on:Understanding and managing filtering and monitoring processes, including escalation procedures.Ensuring these systems block harmful content without hindering teaching and learning.Reviewing filtering and monitoring annually.Reporting safeguarding issues, especially ongoing enquiries under section 47 of the Children Act 1989 and police investigations, and ensuring pupils have appropriate adult support.The DSL must undergo training at least every two years to meet KCSIE standards, including prevent awareness training and regular refreshers (at least annually).#J-18808-Ljbffr
