OverviewJoin to apply for theSolicitorrole atAngus Council . Based at Angus House, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar, DD8 1AN. This post is workstyle 5 – Hybrid plus. You will work from home for part of the week and spend some time in council buildings for meetings and collaboration. The post is temporary initially until 31 March 2026 with potential for a 12-month extension. Angus Council Legal and Democratic Services is committed to working flexibly with equipment provided to support working from home. This role works with our Contracts and Governance Team. Interviews are scheduled for Monday, 13 October 2025. ResponsibilitiesProvide advisory work to senior management on commercial law matters, including major projects, commercial contracts, procurement, state aid/subsidy control, public law, corporate law and construction law. Apply professional and commercial acumen to deliver tailored legal and business solutions. Collaborate within a collegiate team, supporting development of a broad range of legal and related skills. Work flexibly in a hybrid environment and participate in bookable spaces for meetings, training and mentoring when required. Qualifications and requirementsPost-qualified experience in commercial law preferred; ability to demonstrate understanding of a wide range of commercial law matters. Experience advising senior management and handling major projects, commercial contracts, procurement, state aid/subsidy control, public law, corporate law and construction law is desirable. Enthusiasm, flexibility and a desire to work in local government are essential; applications from newly qualified solicitors will also be considered. Ability to obtain a satisfactory Standard Disclosure Certificate. Open to discussion of flexible working during the recruitment process.
