Leaving a lasting legacy and positive change in our communities.On completion of a Level 3 Safety, health and environment technician apprenticeship you will be able to join the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) at TechIOSH level.Youll then be given the opportunity to progress onto further qualifications to support your career development.AHealth and SafetyApprentice in BAMplays afoundational rolein helping our organisation deliver projects safely, while developing the competence and confidence to become a future leader in sector. You will be part of a team of a Health and Safety professionals responsible for promoting apositive safety cultureand ensuring that everyone on site goes home safely at the end of each day.You will be assigned a mentor from day one who will support you throughout your learning; giving you the opportunity to learn from an experienced professional.What will you be doing?Learn to advise and guide agents and other relevant personnel in setting up, implementing and maintaining safety systems.Understand project execution plans and help to ensure they meet company standards.Learn to carry out periodic site safety inspections and report back findings to site managementEnsure that safety issues are discussed at area and department system review meetings.Keep and maintain clear records to comply with company internal audit standards.Assist managers with safety submissions, risk assessments and vendor evaluations when requested.Communicate and promote the health and safety management ethos and concepts.Support in the preparation of the monthly report and submit to the head of health and safety in agreed format.Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time.Help identify ideas for improvement and issues, submitting to senior safety advisor/team leader for consideration.Set a personal example of safe behaviour.What you will needAcademic requirementsEssentialGCSE grade 4 (C) or above in MathsGCSE grade 4 (C) or above in English Language3 additional GCSEs (or equivalent) grade 4 (C) of abovePlusDesirable1 x A level (or equivalent) in STEM subjectWho are we looking for?We are looking for candidates with a desire to develop a Health & Safety career in the construction industry with the following skills and behaviours;Disciplined and able to manage studying and a busy job roleAble to adapt when priorities changeBe proactive, aiming to prevent accidents occurringHappy to work on site and travel as and when requiredPunctual, reliable and committed to delivery high quality workStrong communication skills and willing to challengeStrong attention to detailAdditional RequirementsDue to the project nature of our business, apprentices must be willing to travel and stay away from home necessaryAs some of our projects are in remote areas; we also require all applicants to hold or be working towards gaining a full UK driving licence before September 2025What's in it for you?In addition to a competitive salary and benefits package, we provide continuing development opportunities within a creative and considerate work environment.
