EHV Cable Design Manager - Transmission & Distribution UK - Hybrid£90K + extrasRole PurposeTo lead and manage the design function, ensuring the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of complex cable engineering designs. The role is accountable for technical excellence, resource management, and commercial performance across design activities.Key ResponsibilitiesLead, develop and manage the design team, providing technical direction and people leadership.Oversee the delivery of complex transmission and distribution cable designs.Assign and manage design resources to projects, ensuring high utilisation and efficient delivery.Support project planning, budgeting, forecasting and resource estimation.Monitor productivity, costs and performance against agreed targets and budgets.Ensure all designs meet technical, safety, quality and regulatory requirements.Provide expert input into highly complex or innovative engineering solutions.Identify and mitigate technical, delivery and resourcing risks.Drive continuous improvement and efficiency in design processes.Maintain clear communication with project, engineering and senior management stakeholders.Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality management systems.Qualifications & ExperienceDegree in Engineering and Chartered Engineer status.10+ years' experience in senior cable engineering within transmission and distribution.Proven leadership of engineering teams delivering complex design projects.Strong experience in budgeting, scheduling and resource planning.Proficient in cable design and analysis software and technical reporting.Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
