While we cant list a figure on this advert, the client is genuinely flexible and open to shaping the package around the right person.Job Type: Full-time, PermanentA growing engineering company based in Ely, Cambridgeshire is looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of high-precision mechanical systems.This role offers the opportunity to work on technically advanced products involving precision motion control and vibration isolation systems, taking designs from concept through to production.The RoleAs a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key part in the design, development and testing of mechanical mechanisms. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet performance, manufacturing and compliance requirements.The role will involve supporting the full product development lifecycle, from initial concept and design through testing, validation and release into production.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and improve mechanical mechanisms for precision motion control and vibration isolation systemsDevelop, assemble, test and evaluate theoretical designs using a concurrent engineering approachProduce detailed product specifications based on analysis of test dataWork closely with colleagues, suppliers and manufacturing teams to identify root causes of technical issues and implement solutionsEnsure Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles are incorporated into designsEnsure compliance and regulatory requirements are considered throughout the design processEnsure products can be manufactured reliably and perform consistently in specified operating conditionsPlan and oversee product development activities to ensure project deadlines are achievedConsider cost, compliance, safety and time constraints when developing solutionsWork collaboratively with other departments to support knowledge transfer into productionSkills & ExperienceDegree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experienceExperience in product development with a track record of products released into productionExperience working within multidisciplinary engineering teamsUnderstanding of machinery directive safety legislation and compliance regulationsExperience with 3D and 2D CAD modelling toolsAbility to produce detailed manufacturing drawings with tolerances and finishing specificationsExperience designing precision components to tight tolerancesStrong understanding of material selection for mechanical assembliesAbility to manage multiple tasks and work independentlyStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues quicklyCareer DevelopmentThis role offers excellent opportunities for career progression within the engineering team, including potential advancement into:Senior Mechanical Design Engineer rolesTechnical leadership positionsOpportunities to work across additional engineering disciplinesWhy Apply?Work on innovative precision engineering productsBe involved in the full product development lifecycleJoin a collaborative engineering team environmentExcellent long-term career development opportunitiesTo Apply For more information or to apply, please contact:Lewis Phillips01582 [email protected]
