Job Description Michell Instruments, part of the DwyerOmega (DO) Group, is looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Manager to join our Ely manufacturing site.This is a hands-on, site-based role where youll play a critical part in maintaining and enhancing an already well-established HS&E management system, while helping to shape a proactive, positive safety culture aligned to wider global ESG objectives.Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, with a dotted line to the Global Head of ESG, youll lead all HS&E activity at our Ely site. Youll work closely with site leadership and employees, supporting day-to-day operations while driving continuous improvement across health, safety, and environmental performance.This role would suit a safety-focused professional who enjoys being visible on the shop floor, influencing others, and making a tangible impact.Key ResponsibilitiesHealth & SafetyLead, develop, and continuously improve site health & safety policies, procedures, and safe systems of workEnsure full compliance with UK health & safety legislation and best practiceConduct and oversee risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and HS&E training requirementsLead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, ensuring effective corrective and preventive actionsMonitor performance through audits, inspections, and reportingAct as the primary HS&E point of contact for the Ely siteEnvironmental ManagementManage site environmental compliance, including waste, energy usage, and GHG emissionsMaintain and improve environmental management systemsMonitor and report environmental performance internally and externallyLiaise with regulators and external auditors as requiredTraining & CultureDevelop and deliver HS&E training and awareness programmesSupport HR with HS&E input into new starter onboardingPromote a proactive, transformative safety culture through coaching and visible leadershipSupport managers and supervisors in fulfilling their HS&E responsibilitiesContractor & Stakeholder ManagementEnsure contractors comply with site HS&E standards and legal requirementsReview contractor RAMS prior to work commencingCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive improved HS&E outcomesReporting & Continuous ImprovementMaintain accurate HS&E records and documentationPrepare reports for site leadership, including performance trends and improvement plansIdentify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement and best practiceAbout YouEssentialProven experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental roleStrong working knowledge of UK H&S and environmental legislationConfident communicator with the ability to influence at all levelsIOSH Managing SafelyNEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint)Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with site teamsA proactive, learningoriented mindset with a passion for safetyDesirableExperience in a manufacturing or industrial environmentExperience delivering training or workshopsNCRQ Diploma (or equivalent)ISEP (formerly IEMA) environmental qualificationExperience working with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systemsWhy Join Us?Join a global organisation with strong ESG ambitionsWork in a role where you can genuinely influence culture and outcomesBe part of a supportive, collaborative site leadership teamOpportunity to contribute to both local and global HS&E initiativesApply now for immediate consideration.
