Commercial Manager Energy Project (Edinburgh)Location: Edinburgh (site-based)Make sure to read the full description below, and please apply immediately if you are confident you meet all the requirements.Duration: Minimum 2 yearsReporting to: Regional Commercial DirectorRole OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function on a major energy infrastructure project in Edinburgh.This role will take full ownership of commercial strategy, financial performance, and contractual compliance across the project lifecycle. Operating under FIDIC conditions, you will play a key role in managing risk, driving value, and ensuring successful project delivery.You will lead a team of Quantity Surveyors and work closely with senior project stakeholders to optimise commercial outcomes and maintain strong client relationships.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all commercial activities across a large-scale energy infrastructure projectProvide strategic commercial direction to ensure successful project delivery and profitabilityOversee the administration and management of FIDIC contracts, ensuring compliance and risk mitigationLead subcontract procurement strategy, including tendering, negotiation, and contract awardManage commercial teams, providing leadership, mentoring, and developmentOversee subcontractor valuations, payments, and final account agreementsEnsure accurate budgeting, forecasting, and cost/value reconciliation across the projectDeliver detailed and timely commercial reporting to senior stakeholdersIdentify, manage, and mitigate commercial risks and capitalise on opportunitiesLead on change management, claims, and dispute resolution processesBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and the supply chainCollaborate with Project and Site Managers to drive performance and value engineering initiativesKey RequirementsProven experience operating at Commercial Manager or Managing Quantity Surveyor levelStrong working knowledge of FIDIC contracts (essential)Significant experience within the energy sector, ideally including:High Voltage (HV) worksSubstation projectsDemonstrable experience managing large-scale infrastructure or utilities projectsStrong leadership experience, including managing and developing commercial teamsDegree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related disciplineExcellent commercial acumen with a strategic, solutions-focused approachStrong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skillsAbility to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-value project environmentDesirableChartered status (e.g. RICS)Experience within utilities / renewables / electrical infrastructure sectorsExperience working on complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projectsWhy Apply?This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of the commercial function on a flagship energy project, offering long-term stability (minimum 2 years), high visibility, and the opportunity to influence strategic delivery at a senior level. xjdpvnf You will join a forward-thinking organisation with a strong pipeline of work and clear progression opportunities into senior leadership roles.
