Head of Health & Safety Are you a Health & Safety professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for shaping a positive safety culture across a complex, high-risk environment? If so, this could be the opportunity for you An exciting position has arisen for a Head of Health & Safety to join one of the busiest ports and a critical gateway for trade, tourism and logistics. As part of their forward-thinking leadership team, you will play a key role in transforming how Health & Safety is embedded across all areas of the business from engineering and cargo operations to cruise, and construction projects. Why the Head of Health & Safety position is something you should apply for: Youll lead the development and implementation of a proactive, people-focused safety culture, one where Health & Safety is truly seen as everyones responsibility. Youll work across one of the widest and most diverse risk profiles in the UK, including engineering, maritime, infrastructure, logistics, and operations. The Port is entering an exciting period of transformation, with a strong leadership commitment to evolving culture, structure, and safety performance. Youll have the chance to make a genuine, long-term impact through upcoming strategic initiatives such as safety culture programmes, behavioural workshops, and a comprehensive safety improvement roadmap. The successful Head of Health & Safety will: Have a proven track record leading Health & Safety across complex, multi-risk environments such as infrastructure, transport, logistics, engineering, maritime, or manufacturing. Ideally hold a Level 6 qualification or NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent). Demonstrate strong leadership and influencing skills able to engage at all levels, from board to front line. Have experience developing and delivering safety culture and behavioural change programmes. Be comfortable operating autonomously, setting strategic direction, and supporting a growing Health & Safety team. Be based onsite at the Port, particularly during the initial period, moving to a hybrid model over time. Some weekend work may be required as needed.
