Job Description Job Title: HGV Truck Engineer Location: West Knighton, Dorset, DT2 8PE Pay: Very Competitive Rates (commensurate with experience) Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Hours: Monday to Friday (45 hours per week) with occasional Saturday mornings Commercial HGV Fitter West Knighton, Dorchester, Dorset, DT2 8PE Full-time (Monday–Friday + occasional Saturday mornings, 45 hours per week) Salary: Very Competitive Rates Negotiable depending on experience G Crook & Sons Ltd are looking to recruit an experienced Commercial HGV Fitter to join our growing workshop team due to recent expansion. We operate a large and diverse fleet including Volvo and Scania tippers, low loaders, road sweepers, and muck-away grab lorries , as well as providing maintenance and repair services to a range of external commercial clients. The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy and light commercial vehicles, ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with current legislation. Key Responsibilities Carry out repairs in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current legislation Perform routine vehicle maintenance to VOSA standards Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment Prepare and present vehicles and trailers for annual MOT inspections Maintain high standards of housekeeping in line with health 'safety requirements Complete all paperwork accurately and to a high standard Use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Communicate effectively with Transport and Workshop Managers About You Proven experience working on heavy commercial vehicles (HGVs) and light commercial vehicles Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively Strong understanding of health 'safety practices Experience using diagnostic tools Desirable (but not essential): HGV licence City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair About Us Founded in 1971, G Crook & Sons Ltd is a family-owned business that has grown from a small agricultural and plant hire operation into one of Dorset’s largest companies in the sector.
