Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer with strong Siemens TIA Portal expertise to support the design, development, and commissioning of advanced automated machinery.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain PLC and HMI software using Siemens TIA Portal (TIA Portal V15+ preferred)Develop control system architectures for bespoke automated machineryProduce functional design specifications and software documentationConfigure and integrate safety systems, drives, servos, and motion controlCommission machinery both in-house and at customer sites (UK and occasional international travel)Fault-find, diagnose, and resolve control system issues during build and post-installationCollaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and project engineering teamsSupport continuous improvement and standardisation of control softwareEssential Skills & ExperienceProven experience as a Controls / Automation Engineer within machinery or industrial automationStrong hands-on experience with Siemens PLCs (S7-1200 / S7-1500)Proficient in TIA Portal for PLC, HMI, and hardware configurationExperience with industrial networks (Profinet, Profibus)Good understanding of electrical control panels and machine safety standardsAbility to read and interpret electrical schematicsStrong fault-finding and commissioning skillsRight to work in the UKDesirable Skills & ExperienceExperience with Siemens HMIs (WinCC)Knowledge of servo drives and motion control systemsFamiliarity with safety PLCs and safety standards (e.g. ISO 13849, IEC 62061)Experience commissioning bespoke or special-purpose machineryBackground in industries such as packaging, materials handling, robotics, or process automationBenefitsCompetitive salary (dependent on experience)Company pension scheme25 days holiday plus bank holidaysPrivate HealthcareOvertime and/or travel allowances (where applicable)Opportunities for training and career developmentStable and growing engineering-focused business
