Job Role: Head of Digital Reference: BH-365p Job Type: Permanent Salary: up to 80,000 per annum Location: 5 days in office (near Darlington) About the Company: Our Client is a fast growing UK-based e-commerce specialist. The company is entering its next phase of growth and seeks a highly experienced, data-driven Head of Digital. The business offers a broad range of premium products, supported by a digital platform capable of handling thousands of daily transactions with efficiency and reliability. Role overview: Our Client is seeking a Head of Digital to take full ownership of the companys digital ecosystem, driving commercial success across all online channels. This hands-on role will bridge technical marketing, analytics, and operational teams, driving growth through performance marketing, SEO, conversion optimisation, and data-led insights. You will manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team, ensuring sustainable growth, improved customer journeys, and maximised digital marketing ROI. Additionally, you will act as a senior voice within the leadership team, influencing wider business strategy. Responsibilities Define and execute the digital strategy to drive business growth. Own digital P&L, budgets, and performance across marketing, SEO, CRO, and platform development. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing digital team. Represent digital initiatives at the senior leadership level. Oversee all digital acquisition channels: PPC, Paid Social, SEO, Affiliate, Email, and Retargeting. Optimise metrics including CAC, LTV, ROAS, and AOV. Manage e-commerce platform roadmap and deliver a high-performance, mobile-first UX/UI. Enhance conversion rates and overall customer experience. Drive a data-led approach with clear KPIs across channels. Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and resolution of analytics issues. Manage BI and reporting (Power BI, SQL, BigQuery) plus data integration and automation via APIs and connectors. Monitor trends and emerging tech (AI, personalisation, omnichannel) to enhance digital capabilities. Implement tools and processes to improve efficiency, tracking, and reporting. Essential Experience: 5+ years experience in a senior digital leadership role within e-commerce or retail. Strong commercial acumen with digital P&L ownership and a track record of growth delivery. Expertise in digital advertising, PPC, performance marketing, and SEO. Knowledge of e-commerce platforms (Magento, Shopify) and conversion optimisation. Skilled in analytics, tracking, and data collection across digital environments. Proficient in Power BI, SQL, API integrations, and data modelling. Experienced in managing and mentoring digital/marketing teams. Comfortable in fast-paced, scale-up settings with resilience and solutions-focus. Excellent stakeholder management, problem-solving, and communication skills. Desirable Experience Familiarity with BI/tracking automation tools (e.g., Polar Analytics, Leaf Signal). Experience with international or multi-brand e-commerce environments. Knowledge of pricing/stock management systems, warehouse optimisation strategies, and API integration for sales margin monitoring. Familiarity with order and channel management platforms (e.g., Linnworks, M2E). Working knowledge of GA4, Magento/BigCommerce, Klaviyo, Meta Ads, Google Ads, GTM, and cloud hosting environments. Basic understanding of front-end development concepts and IT stack alignment.
