Job Description Deputy Safety & Compliance Manager Part 145 Location: Teesside International Airport Department: Safety & Compliance Contract: Full-time, Permanent Reporting to: Safety & Compliance ManagerWillis Aviation Services Ltd (WASL) is seeking an experienced Deputy Safety & Compliance Manager to support the leadership of our Safety & Compliance function within a UK CAA Part-145 Approved Maintenance Organisation.This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing and developing the organisations Safety Management System (SMS) and Compliance Monitoring System (CMS), while deputising for the Nominated Post Holder for Safety & Compliance. The role offers a unique opportunity to influence safety culture, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across a growing aviation organisation. Key ResponsibilitiesDeputise for the Nominated Post Holder (Safety & Compliance) in managing the Safety & Compliance DepartmentManage the Compliance Monitoring System, ensuring compliance with Part 145 and other applicable regulations through audits, assessments, and oversight activitiesIdentify, document, and manage non-compliances, implementing effective corrective actions and driving continuous improvement initiativesLead hazard identification and risk assessment activities, ensuring robust safety management processes and regulatory adherenceDesign and implement safety assurance processes, including training and competency assessment of certifying personnelMonitor and control amendments to organisational procedures, ensuring continued compliance with Part 145 and applicable regulatory guidanceAssess suppliers, material providers, standard parts, components, subcontractors, and contracted organisations to ensure satisfactory product quality and regulatory complianceCoordinate airworthiness occurrences, initiating investigations and overseeing follow-up actions as requiredEstablish and manage initial and continuation training programmes, including the retention and control of training recordsPromote, maintain, and uphold a strong Just Culture within the approved maintenance organisation Requirements & ExperienceEligibility & BackgroundAcceptable or near acceptable to the UK CAA as a Nominated Post Holder (Safety and/or Compliance Monitoring)One of the following professional backgrounds:Valid or previously held UK Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML)Aeronautical Engineering Degree from a recognised universitySubstantial experience within an aircraft maintenance or continuing airworthiness environmentEssentialExtensive knowledge of Part 145, Part CAMO, and Part 66 regulationsUK CAA Part-145 Regulations trainingProven experience as an internal auditor, with recognised auditing trainingStrong organisational, analytical, and leadership skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholdersHigh attention to detail, integrity, and professionalismAbility to work autonomously while fostering collaborative team environmentsStrong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with a focus on safety and continuous improvementDesirableHuman Factors trainingFuel Tank Safety / CDCCLElectrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS)Previously held Part-66 AMLAbout UsWillis Aviation Services Limited are part of Willis Lease Finance Corporation, a pioneer and provider of global aviation services for over 45 years.
