Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Dimensional ManagementLocation: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.Salary: £42,215+ depending on skills and experienceWhat You’ll Be DoingWork closely with Design Engineering to identify and manage key quality characteristics in design outputsAssess the Producibility of design outputs and provide recommendations based on manufacturing capabilityAssess tolerances, datums and GD&T to support the design and development of the productWork with the build strategy team to identify inspection hold points in the build sequenceIntroduce new tools and processes relating to dimensional capability across the businessEssentialYour skills and experiences:HNC / STEM or equivalent trade experienceDetailed understanding of dimensional measurement systems and metrology principlesAbility to interpret engineering drawings and/or CAD modelsPrevious Shipbuilding knowledge is beneficial but not essentialDesirableExcellent understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and TolerancingExperience working on large-scale bespoke engineering projectsBuild Tolerances / Tolerance Stack-upExperience in Shipbuilding Fabrication or Machining OperationsBenefitsAs well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts – you may also be eligible for an annual incentive.The Manufacturing Engineering TeamAs a part of the Dimensional Management team you will be faced with interesting opportunity’s, with diverse and broad tasking, enabling the team to learn submarine design & build process. You will be involved in influencing and impacting the design and quality teams, identifying key characteristics that need managing from design and into build through Quality Control Plans to capture inspection hold points that require further control. Adaptability is key with a desire to absorb build knowledge of submarine inspection requirements.
