Technical DepartmentReports to: Head of Supply AssuranceAre you passionate about food safety, supplier compliance and making sure the supply chain stands up to the highest standards?We're looking for a detail-focused and proactive Technical Officer Supply Chain to join our Supply Assurance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with suppliers, technical teams and manufacturing sites to ensure all raw materials and ingredients meet legal, customer and internal requirements.If you enjoy building supplier relationships, working with systems, and driving continuous improvement, this could be the role for you.The RoleYou'll be part of a small but highly important team responsible for ensuring our supply chain is compliant, safe and audit-ready.Working with systems such as SMILE and Foods Connected, you'll manage supplier documentation, support approval processes, and help ensure the right information is accurate, complete and accessible across the business.You'll act as a key link between suppliers, Quality Assurance Managers, Specification teams and manufacturing sites.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure suppliers are correctly set up and maintained in SMILE and Foods ConnectedRequest, review and manage compliance documentation and Supplier Assessment Questionnaires (SAQs)Analyse supplier information to confirm adequacy and completenessChallenge and verify new supplier requests before approvalUpdate retailer-approved supplier lists where requiredGather documentation for concessions and ensure smooth sign-off processesBuild professional relationships with suppliersEnsure suppliers understand and comply with Pilgrim's Europe ingredient and meat requirementsSupport suppliers in maintaining accurate system informationMonitor and report on supplier performance KPIsSupport Supplier Assurance Managers to achieve compliance objectivesWork closely with the Specification team on raw material specifications and priority managementSupport manufacturing sites during audits by retrieving documentation and liaising with suppliersEducate site teams on ingredient and meat-related compliance mattersMaintain and report KPIs across supplier approval and complianceProduce reporting from internal systems for cross-functional reviewContinuously review and challenge existing processes to improve efficiencySupport ad-hoc projects and respond to welfare or disease-related supply chain alertsOccasional travel may be required.What We're Looking ForEssentialFood-related qualification or significant experience in a similar technical roleExperience maintaining and approving ingredient specificationsStrong knowledge of food legislation and retailer requirementsExcellent attention to detail and organisational skillsConfident communicator with the ability to influence positivelyAbility to challenge constructively and professionallySelf-motivated and able to work independentlyStrong IT skills including Office 365 and experience with systems such as SMILE and Foods ConnectedDesirableDegree in Food Science or related disciplineHACCP Level 4VACCP knowledgeExperience working with auditors, customers or external bodiesBroad experience across food industry categoriesWhy Join Us?Be part of a business where food safety and compliance are top prioritiesPlay a key role in protecting supply chain integrityWork cross-functionally with technical, procurement and site teamsOpportunity to influence supplier standards and drive improvementSupportive team environment with opportunities to grow your technical expertiseWe value people who take ownership, work collaboratively and focus on practical, effective solutions.
