Job Summary:As a key member of the finance team, the Finance Business Partner will play a critical role in supporting the Operations, Technical, and R&D Directors. The role involves developing robust costing processes and delivering accurate, timely, and insightful financial information to support decision-making across the business.Success in this role requires a proactive approach to driving change and enhancing competitiveness and value creation. The Finance Business Partner will be deeply integrated into core business areas, with early involvement in projectsstarting from the concept stageto help shape the strategic direction of the company.Building strong, collaborative relationships between finance and the operations/technical teams is essential. This role will be instrumental in identifying and implementing operational efficiencies, guiding business improvement initiatives, promoting informed cost control decisions, and ultimately contributing to long-term, sustainable profitability.Main Duties & Responsibilities:Operations SupportEnsure the accuracy of product costing and margins, including labour, materials, and overheads.Provide financial support in achieving operational KPIs, analysing the financial benefits of continuous improvement initiatives.Deliver clear insight and analysis of operational costs and variances across manufacturing and supply chain including labour, materials, throughput, waste, and productivity.Own and maintain product costing standards (BOMs and routings), ensuring accurate material and labour inputs to support effective standard costing and overhead allocation.Conduct scenario planning and business modelling to evaluate the impact of direct labour and operational overhead changes.Monitor and improve the financial integrity of stock movements in the ERP system, ensuring accurate material usage and cost reflection.Identify and drive opportunities for efficiency, quality, and cost improvements through actionable insights and financial support.Promote a culture of continuous improvement across operations through close collaboration and data-driven support.Technical & R&D SupportPartner with the Technical team to build robust business cases for Capex investments, ensuring financial evaluations align with business strategy.Monitor Capex spend against approved budgets, identifying risks, variances, and opportunities for value creation.Support project managers by enhancing financial awareness and enabling data-driven decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.Work with the R&D team to model the financial implications of product trials and development, ensuring accurate costing and clear communication with stakeholders.Assist in the preparation and submission of data for R&D tax credit claims.Budgeting & ForecastingSupport, coordinate, and challenge budget submissions from Operations, Technical, and R&D teams.Collaborate with budget holders to ensure accurate, well-supported budgets and provide meaningful variance analysis.Team Leadership & ProjectsManage and mentor the Data Analyst, providing guidance and development opportunities.Lead or contribute to ad hoc projects as agreed with the Finance Director.Provide additional support to the Finance Director as required.
