Where possible, we support a working pattern that suits your lifestyle and helps you reach your ambitions.Primary purpose of the jobA member of the Trade Compliance (TC) Team, reporting to the Head of Trade Compliance, and responsible for ensuring that the Domain(s)/GBU(s) s objectives are met in compliance with international trade control laws, regulations and policies, in particular those related to UK and US export controls and UK Customs.Key tasks and accountabilitiesPeople Management ResponsibilityDay to day responsibility for managing internal stakeholders within the Domain(s)/BGU(s) that the TC Team is responsible for. Some interaction with external stakeholders.GeneralAdvise the relevant key stakeholders on the trade compliance requirements for imports and exportsContribute as a key user to the implementation of the local Trade Compliance policies, processes & toolsSupport awareness and training sessionsDay-to-day activities, includes but are not limited to:Review or create and where necessary approve, all trade compliance documentation/requests e.g: CECCs, ICECCs, End User Statements, DSP5s and other supplier licenses, TAAs, MLAs Sales Order/Contracts and Purchase Orders/Subcontracts/Purchase Agreements, Commercial Invoices, Instructions for Freight Forwarders/ Customs Brokers, MSS Data Report, to establish trade compliance requirements and to ensure all relevant information has been includedApply for UK export approvals, ensuring that End User Statements, F680 approval etc. are in placeApply for US EAR licenses, using SNAP-R and liaise with Thales US to apply for appropriate DDTC approvalsLiaise with Thales internal functions to ensure US export legislation is implemented correctly, including guidance for Technology Control Plans, US export approvals, re-transfer authorisations etc.Undertake appropriate checks for ITAR material (US suppliers) and DSPsManage the return of any temporary imports to meet international customs & licensing requirementsManage customs authorisations and renewalsSecure export controls with record keeping and reportingTechnical & Professional Skills EssentialA reasonable knowledge and experience with the UK and US export regulations (ITAR and EAR) and the UK customs regulationsPreferredExperience of working in defence and/or dual-use sectorsSome EU Export Controls knowledgeEducation & QualificationsAssociated degree preferred (e.g. law/international business/engineering)Minimum of 1 to 3 years import / export controls experiencePersonality / BehavioursCan work independently, with some supervision from time to timeA can do attitudeGood commercial awarenessEffective time management skillsExcellent attention to detailShould have a strong sense of integrity BenefitsPerformance-related bonus (grade dependent)Car cash allowance (grade dependent)Half day every Friday, usually finishing around 13:00 delete if not applicable to the BL28 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) with opportunity to buy up to 40 hours/year (pro rata)24 hours volunteering paid forPrivate healthcare (grade dependent)Pension schemeLife cover24/7 Employee Assistance Program and access to mental wellbeing appEmployee discount shopping schemes on major brands and retailersGym membership discountsSecurity Clearance Requirement:Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires Security Clearance (SC). It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment. To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.
