A leading electronics manufacturing company is seeking a self-driven and highly motivated Senior SMT Technician to join its innovative and fast-growing team in Cramlington. As the Senior SMT Technician, you will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day production process, ensuring smooth operations, and optimizing production efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Operate and maintain both automated and manual assembly equipment, such as Pick & Place machines, screen printers, AOI inspection machines, and reflow solder equipment. Perform various mechanical assembly operations on assemblies and sub-assemblies. Create and build programs on the Pick and Place machine, ensuring the correct placement of components. Utilize IPC soldering standards for inspection and quality control. Assemble printed circuit boards (PCBs) in compliance with established quality standards and documentation. Conduct troubleshooting and fault corrections for program, process, or machine issues to maintain smooth production flow. Collaborate closely with the Quality, Industrialisation, and R&D teams to ensure products meet high standards. Assist with training and knowledge transfer at other company locations to ensure proper process handover prior to the main site opening. Ideal Candidate: Strong knowledge of electronics, components, and SMT processes. Experience with screen printing, pick & place, reflow, and AOI programming (experience with Siemens, ASMPT, or Omron is preferred). At least 5 years of experience in an electronics production environment. High attention to detail with the ability to lead a small team. Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced production line. Relevant qualifications in electronics or equivalent experience. IPC and JSTD certification is a plus but not essential. Flexibility to work shift hours when required. Salary and Benefits: Competitive annual salary depending on experience.
