Job Description Driver Trainer (LGV / HGV)Location: Coulsdon DepotSalary: 42,000 per annumContract: Full-timeAbout the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Driver Trainer (LGV/HGV) to support the safe and effective day-to-day operation of our depot. This role is key in ensuring all drivers are trained to a high standard and remain compliant with statutory, legal, and operational requirements.You will play a vital role in developing driver competence through induction, vocational training, monitoring driving behaviour, and delivering targeted interventions where required helping to maintain a safe, professional, and compliant driver workforce.Key ResponsibilitiesRecruitment & OnboardingSupport the recruitment process through pre-employment driver assessmentsDeliver a comprehensive 5-day Driver Induction programme aligned with legislation and company standardsDriver Training & DevelopmentProvide ongoing refresher training and additional mode trainingSupport continuous improvement in driver skills and customer experiencePerformance & ComplianceMaintain accurate driver competence and training records using Express ClassReview driving performance data with management to identify trends and support needsConduct behavioural and performance interventions where improvements are requiredPost-Incident SupportDeliver reassessments and retraining following incidents or near missesOperational SupportStay up to date with vehicle technical changes and communicate updates to driversPromote best practice in safe driving, vehicle checks, and complianceContinuous ImprovementEnhance training delivery methods and driver learning outcomesCommit to ongoing professional developmentEssential RequirementsMinimum 3 years HGV driving experience, including multiple HGV vehicle typesProven experience conducting driver assessments and trainingValid Class 2 HGV Licence and Digital Tachograph CardUp-to-date CPC TrainingGood understanding of HGV mechanics and maintenanceStrong knowledge of driver checks and defect reportingSound understanding of relevant legislation, including the Working Time DirectiveFlexible approach to working hours, including early starts, late finishes, nights, and weekends when requiredJBRP1_UKTJ
