In the final stages of becoming an Employee Owned Business, we are proud to be able to share our successes with our employees as well as giving them a voice to help shape the future.We are looking for an experienced Design Manager to lead and manage our talented design engineers at our office in Helston, Cornwall.This is a fantastic office-based opportunity for a proven leader to take ownership of the design function, ensure technical excellence, and develop a high-performing team working on both new and existing projects.Key Responsibilities:✔ Lead, manage, and develop a team of experienced designers in a fast-paced environment.✔ Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and support to ensure the team delivers high-quality, creative, and technically sound designs.✔ Oversee and review designs to ensure all safety, fabrication, and construction requirements are met.✔ Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.✔ Work closely with the production team to ensure designs are optimised for manufacturing efficiency and installation.✔ Attend meetings as and when required with customers, suppliers, and other departments to align design solutions with project requirements.✔ Collaborate across departments to drive cost-effective and efficient design for manufacture and performance.What We’re Looking For:✅ Essential:Proven experience managing a design team in a manufacturing or construction-related industry.Proficient in CAD drawing software such as SolidWorks.A detail-orientated and disciplined approach to design.✅ Desirable:Fabrication experience, particularly with steelwork/metal components (e.g., balconies, railings).Experience managing third-party contractors and support services.Knowledge of performance management techniques to support team growth and development.This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role within a market-leading business.
