Design Manager

We are looking for an experienced Design Manager to lead and manage our talented design engineers at our office in Helston, Cornwall. This is a fantastic office-based opportunity for a proven leader to take ownership of the design function, ensure technical excellence, and develop a high-performing team working on both new and existing projects. Key Responsibilities: Lead, manage, and develop a team of experienced designers in a fast-paced environment. Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and support to ensure the team delivers high-quality, creative, and technically sound designs. Oversee and review designs to ensure all safety, fabrication, and construction requirements are met. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. Work closely with the production team to ensure designs are optimised for manufacturing efficiency and installation. Attend meetings as and when required with customers, suppliers, and other departments to align design solutions with project requirements. Collaborate across departments to drive cost-effective and efficient design for manufacture and performance. What Were Looking For: Essential: Proven experience managing a design team in a manufacturing or construction-related industry. Proficient in CAD drawing software such as SolidWorks. A detail-orientated and disciplined approach to design. Desirable: Fabrication experience, particularly with steelwork/metal components (e.g., balconies, railings). Experience managing third-party contractors and support services. Knowledge of performance management techniques to support team growth and development.
