Job Description Highways Maintenance OperativeAbatec is currently recruiting for Traffic Management Operatives and Highways Maintenance Operatives on behalf of a leading road maintenance provider based in the Gloucester area. This is a full-time, hands-on role offering long-term opportunities, full training, and clear progression prospects.The role would suit candidates with previous experience in groundworks, construction, landscaping, or tree surgery, as many of the skills gained in these environments are highly transferable.If you enjoy working outdoors, being part of a small team, and taking on varied tasks across different projects, this role could be a great fit. No two days are the same.What youll be doing:Carrying out reactive roadways maintenance to include pothole repairs, tarmacking, landscaping, gully cleaning, hedge cutting, kerb maintenance amongst other dutiesSetting out, establishing, maintaining, and removing traffic management sites in compliance with Health & Safety and industry regulationsConducting thorough risk assessments to ensure operational safety and complianceSafely loading vehicles with required traffic management equipment, adhering to health and safety protocolsPerforming daily vehicle inspections to maintain road worthiness and promptly reporting any defectsReporting all near-miss incidents in accordance with company policySupporting depot operations by organising and returning equipment to designated areas, including recharging and correctly storing batteriesGritting roads during winter and responding to emergency worksUsing various tools and materials, loading/unloading equipmentEnsuring health 'safety compliance for yourself, your team, and the publicWhat were looking for:Full UK driving licence (essential)Experience in highways, construction, or outdoor workAbility to follow safety procedures and work as part of a teamCSCS card and Street Works tickets (beneficial but not essential)Desirable Qualifications / Skills:Traffic Management qualifications (T1 & T2)Valid Streetworks (NRSWA) qualificationPrevious experience working within traffic management or highway maintenance environments.Whats on offer:12.7113.50 per hourFull-time, MondayFriday + overtimeOn-site parkingFull training provided and development opportunitiesProgression routes including HGV licence support and senior rolesTemp to Perm opportunityApply today and take the next step in your highways career with full support and training provided or call now to speak to the Engineering teamJBRP1_UKTJ
