Job Description Join Our Mission: Community Fundraiser (South East England)Aid to the Church in Need (UK) is searching for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Community Fundraiser to help support suffering and persecuted Christians around the world. Home-based, covering the dioceses of Portsmouth, Arundel & Brighton, and Southwark Reporting to the Community Outreach Manager and working as part of our supportive, passionate team Why this role mattersEvery day, millions of Christians face persecution simply for their faith. At Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), we provide practical and spiritual support: rebuilding churches destroyed by violence, training new priests and catechists, and bringing hope to communities in crisis.As a Community Fundraiser, your work directly helps make this possible. By inspiring parishes, schools and benefactors, youll help us extend our mission and raise vital funds for those who need it most. What youll doThis role is perfect for someone who loves meeting people, building networks and sharing powerful stories of faith and resilience.Your key responsibilities will include: Raising awareness: Share ACNs mission in parishes, schools, universities and the wider community, deepening understanding of our pastoral and spiritual work. Growing our benefactor base: Inspire individuals and groups to support ACN, collecting new contact details and nurturing lasting relationships. Generating donations: Organise and deliver parish appeal weekends each year, give talks, and set up trading stalls to raise funds. Developing volunteers: Recruit and support Parish Volunteers, independent fundraising groups and DIY fundraisers. Engaging young people: Build connections with schools and colleges, introduce ACNs teaching resources and prayer campaigns, and encourage student fundraising initiatives. Nurturing key relationships: Identify and build relationships with high-value donors, legacy donors and loyal benefactors in your area. Promoting ACN Trading items: Market and sell carefully chosen religious items, adding to our fundraising income.Every day will be varied one day you might speak at a parish, the next you could run a school workshop, meet a major donor, or support a volunteer-led event. Who youll work withYoull collaborate with:Colleagues across the Community Outreach team, Fundraising & Marketing and ACN TradingParish priests, diocesan staff, chaplains and RE advisorsSchool leaders, university chaplains, youth workers and volunteersHigh-value benefactors and local fundraising groupsAll supported by a Community Outreach Manager who values your ideas, creativity and commitment. What were looking forWere searching for someone who is: A practising Catholic, with an in-depth understanding of Church life and teachings A confident communicator and public speaker who can inspire diverse audiences Passionate about our mission, and motivated to help those facing religious persecution Skilled at building relationships, especially within dioceses, parishes and schools Organised, creative and able to manage your own workload effectively Ideally experienced in community fundraising, though other relevant outreach or charity roles are welcome ICT literate (Microsoft Office), with knowledge of CRM databases like Raisers Edge a plus Holds a full driving licence and can travel across the assigned dioceses (with occasional overnight stays)Beyond skills and experience, we value: Enthusiasm and a positive, can-do attitude Sensitivity and respect in all communication A desire to learn and grow within a supportive team Practical detailsFull-time, home-based role covering Portsmouth, Arundel & Brighton, and Southwark diocesesOccasional evening and weekend work required (e.g., parish appeals)Competitive charity sector salaryRegular national team meetings and opportunities for professional developmentSupported by a dedicated, values-driven team
