Estimator

My client are a leading UK-based contractor delivering groundworks and civil engineering services across the residential, commercial, and public sectors. Their expertise includes infrastructure for housing developments, reinforced concrete structures, land remediation, and coastal defences. They foster a collaborative and inclusive working environment, focused on quality, safety, and long-term growth. Seeking a motivated Estimator to join the team and play a key role in pricing and securing future projects across their diverse portfolio. They require someone to supplement and support the existing Estimating Department by preparation of groundworks tenders to the value of 20m. Responsibilities include: Comprehensive review of tender scope and information and associated raising of RFIs. Undertake site visits and risk analysis. Interpret ground conditions from Site Investigation reports. Take-off and measurement using 2D & 3D software along with spreadsheet templates. Prepare tender adjudication and submission documents for review by the Managing Estimator. Requirements: 2 years minimum working in a similar groundworks / civils environment as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator. Self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to integrate well with a small team of collaborative Estimators. Understanding of traditional groundworks activities including construction of roads and sewers, foundation and substructure, earthworks etc. Ability to assess scope of work from drawings and specifications from an Estimator perspective. Ability to prepare BQ in readiness for submission. Strong IT skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, the use of Microsoft Excel at a proficient level is an essential requirement. Organised with the ability to work effectively under pressure to strict deadlines. Understands the importance of maintaining excellent working relationships with the company's clients. Working knowledge of estimating software.
