Design Manager

We’re seeking a Design Manager to standardise and streamline processes that take concepts from idea through to production.Role Overview:Lead a small, multi-disciplinary design team to ensure concepts move efficiently from idea to production. Drive innovation, maintain high standards, and implement repeatable processes that improve quality, cost, and manufacturability.Key Responsibilities:Lead and coach the design team, managing multiple product projects.Standardise design-to-production workflows, ensuring consistency and efficiency.Translate creative concepts into functional, manufacturable products.Maintain product data, BOMs, and design documentation.Apply DFM principles and value-engineering to optimise products.Support production launches and provide technical guidance across teams.Research new materials, processes, and technologies to enhance products.Ensure regulatory compliance and manage design governance.Candidate Requirements:Mechanical design backgroundExperience implementing processes5+ years leading engineering/design teamsKnowledge of GD&T highly beneficialProven experience taking products from concept through to productionKnowledge of metal manufacturing techniques, including machining, fabrication, and weldingHands-on, pragmatic problem-solver with a process-driven mindsetStrong leadership, organisational, and communication skillsThe Package:Competitive salary circa £60k per annumCandidates meeting all requirements may earn up to £70k
