Machinist

Thorn Baker are currently recruiting for an experienced Machine Operator to join their clients growing team. This is an excellent temp-to-perm opportunity for candidates with a background in manufacturing and operating Webster Bennett / Lumsden type machinery. Key Responsibilities Operate Webster Bennett / Lumsden type machinery or similar equipment. The lathes are manually operated and not CNC controlled so would be very much reliant on your knowledge. Work to precise tolerances and product standards using vernier callipers and measuring tools. Perform general housekeeping and asset care duties. Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations and site protocols. Operate forklift trucks or static lifting equipment (full training provided). Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and stock control. Candidate Requirements Previous experience operating Webster Bennett or Lumsden lathes (essential). Minimum 2 years' experience in a manufacturing or lathe machine operating role. Strong understanding of quality control procedures. Excellent attendance , punctuality , and communication skills . Ability to maintain high housekeeping standards on the shop floor. Flexibility to support various site tasks, including manual handling and production support. What We Offer Competitive hourly pay at 12.55/hour . With the potential for this to rise to 13ph. 37-hour working week with an early finish on Fridays. Monday to Thursday 7:30am-4:30pm & Fridays 7:30am-12:20pm Temp-to-perm role with long-term career prospects.
