Job ProfileThe SMR Project Interface Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting the Executive Project Director (SMR) and the Project lead team in driving the delivery of the SMR Project.With frequent travel to North Wales, the role will focus on providing the Project interface and support to all GBE-N activities in this area. This will involve aligning cross-functional Project efforts, prioritising key initiatives, and ensuring that the Executive Project Director and lead team are equipped with the necessary information and support to lead the delivery of the Project.In the short to medium term the role will be a key conduit between the Project and key stakeholders in North Wales, including local Government and the existing NRS site.The SMR Project Interface Officer will act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Project Director and lead initiatives that align with the Project’s mission to build the new SMR power plants safely, at pace and at value for money. They will also represent the Executive Project Director in internal and external engagements, providing strategic support and acting as a liaison between the Director, lead team, and broader GBE-N organisation.This role will require a high level of strategic insight, commercial and operational acumen, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments both internally and externally.The ideal candidate will be a fluent speaker of the Welsh language and will have a strong background in strategic planning, project management, and executive advisory roles, preferably within the energy, infrastructure, or similarly regulated industries. They must demonstrate exceptional organisational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a deep understanding of the environment in which the SMR Project operates.Responsibilities:Strategic Advisory and Support:Act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Project Director (SMR), providing strategic counsel on key Project decisions, initiatives, and challenges.Assist in the development and execution of the SMR Project culture and behaviours.Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and reports for the Executive Project Director (SMR) and lead team, ensuring that decisions are data-driven and well-informed. Will ensure that the Executive Project Director is continuously set up to show GBE-N and the Project in the best possible light.Cross-Functional Coordination of SMR Project Activity:Facilitate cross-functional alignment by coordinating the execution of key initiatives, ensuring that different teams are working cohesively towards shared goals.Act as a bridge between the Executive Project Director, lead team, and broader GBE-N organisation, ensuring that information flows effectively and that the Executive Project Director’s priorities are communicated and acted upon.Lead special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Executive Project Director, driving strategic outcomes and ensuring timely delivery of results.Stakeholder Engagement:Represent the Executive Project Director in internal and external engagements, including meetings with government bodies, industry partners, and other key stakeholders, particularly in North Wales.Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, acting as an ambassador for the SMR Project.Collaborate with GBE-N Communications, Government Relations, and other teams to support the Executive Project Director’s external visibility and influence.Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree (e.g. MBA) is preferred.Proven track record of working with senior executives, driving strategic initiatives, and managing complex projects.Exceptional organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across diverse stakeholders.Fluent speaker of the Welsh language is preferred.Personal Attributes:High integrity, with a commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics.Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a focus on continuous improvement.Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, rapidly evolving environment.Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on execution and a commitment to excellence.
