Our work is diverse, impactful, and purpose-driven - offering you the chance to build your expertise, develop your leadership skills, and help deliver sustainable solutions for the future.What You'll Be DoingAs a Senior Civil & Structural Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a range of nuclear, renewable, and energy infrastructure projects. You'll contribute throughout the full project lifecycle - from feasibility and concept design through detailed engineering, construction support, and delivery.Working closely with Principal Engineers, Engineering Managers, and project teams, you'll ensure that designs are safe, compliant, and cost-effective while meeting client requirements and industry standards.Key responsibilities includeLeading and supporting the development of civil and structural designs across multiple project stagesPreparing and verifying design documentation, specifications, and calculations for safety-critical systemsProducing safety-related deliverables such as Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs), Structural Design Method Statements (SDMSs), and Design Substantiation Reports (DSRs)Undertaking and reviewing finite element modelling and structural analysis using advanced engineering toolsDeveloping Interpretive Reports, Basis of Design documents, CDM documentation, and technical reportsProviding technical oversight, checking, and mentoring of junior engineers and design staffEnsuring designs comply with regulatory, safety, and quality standards, particularly within nuclear and high-hazard environmentsInterfacing with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to address technical queries and progress project deliverySupporting planning, estimation, and risk management activities across projectsPromoting innovation, digital tools, and continuous improvement in engineering processesAbout YouWe're looking for someone who brings both strong technical expertise and excellent communication skills. You'll be a proactive, solutions-focused engineer who enjoys working in multidisciplinary environments and mentoring others to achieve high performance.Essential skills and experience:Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline (BEng, MEng, BSc, MSc)Chartered or near-Chartered Engineer status (we'll support you to achieve full registration)Solid background in civil and structural design within the nuclear, energy, or other highly regulated sectorsGood understanding of nuclear plant systems, structures, and components (or transferable experience from similar environments)Strong knowledge of engineering principles, design tools, and standards such as ACI, ASCE, and AISCExperience using finite element analysis software and performing design validation and verificationKnowledge of health and safety legislation, CDM regulations, and best design practicesFamiliarity with working in a BIM environment and digital engineering workflowsStrong organisational, leadership, and stakeholder management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to technical accuracyDesirable:Experience with UK Nuclear Licensing and the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) processFamiliarity with small or advanced modular reactor technologiesExperience leading small teams or acting as a checker for technical deliverablesWhat We OfferWe're committed to creating an environment where you can thrive - professionally and personally.
