Job Description Supervising Social Worker Connected Peoples TeamCheshire West and Chester Council The Portal, Ellesmere Port30.48 PAYE (exclusive of holiday pay) or 38.99 LTD (inclusive of holiday pay)Contract | Full-Time We are currently seeking a committed, resilient, and experienced Supervising Social Worker to join the Connected Peoples Team at Cheshire West and Chester Council, based at The Portal in Ellesmere Port. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated social work professional who is passionate about supporting children to remain within their family networks wherever it is safe and appropriate to do so. About the Role As a Supervising Social Worker within the Connected Peoples Fostering Team, you will play a key role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children across the borough. You will deliver a high-quality service to children, families, and carers, ensuring that childrens wellbeing and safety remain at the centre of all practice. The team specialises in family and friends fostering, completing comprehensive assessments and providing ongoing support to carers who are looking after children known to them, including those applying for Special Guardianship Orders (SGOs). Key ResponsibilitiesUndertake detailed Connected Person and Special Guardianship assessments.Provide support, guidance, and supervision to family and friends carers.Complete robust and timely assessments, often within court-directed timescales.Work closely with Childrens Social Workers, Legal Services, and the Courts.Maintain a strong understanding of care proceedings, permanence planning, and court processes.Travel as required to undertake assessments, which may include out-of-county visits and occasional overnight stays.RequirementsQualified Social Worker with Social Work England registrationSignificant post-qualified experience in childrens servicesExperience completing Connected Person / Special Guardianship assessmentsStrong knowledge of court processes and care proceedingsAbility to work independently while managing a busy caseloadPay Rates30.48 per hour PAYE (exclusive of holiday pay)38.99 per hour LTD (inclusive of holiday pay)If you are an experienced social worker looking to make a real difference supporting family and friends carers to provide safe and stable homes for children, we would love to hear from you.
