Are you an educator who understands that progress isnt always reflected in grades or test results, but sometimes ingrowing trust, improved resilience, and small but meaningful steps forward?We are currently looking forcommitted tutors in the Thurrock areawho want their work to have a genuine and lasting impact, not just fill a timetable.All potential candidates should read through the following details of this job with care before making an application.About the RoleMost of the students we support aresecondary-aged learners with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and other complex challenges. Many have struggled within mainstream education and require patient, consistent support to help them reconnect with learning.This role is about far more than delivering lessons. It involves creating astable and supportive learning environmentwhere students feel safe enough to engage and progress.Your work will focus on:Building positive, professional relationships with studentsProviding structured and calm learning sessionsSupporting bothacademic development and emotional regulationBeing a reliable and consistent presence in a young persons routineAvailability RequirementsTo provide the consistency our students need, tutors should be able to commit to:A minimum of 1015 hours per weekCore hours typically between 8:30am and 3:30pmAvailability from Monday to FridayRegular attendance and reliability are extremely important, as many students benefit greatly from routine and familiar support.Responsibilities Beyond TeachingCommunication and professionalism are essential parts of this role.Tutors are expected to:Keepaccurate attendance recordsMonitor and document bothacademic and emotional progressProvide updates that can be shared withschools and other professionalsMaintain clear and organised records in line with safeguarding expectationsThe information you provide may contribute toEHCP reviews, education planning, and discussions with external agencies, so careful reporting is important. xjdpvnf Who Were Looking ForWe welcome tutors with experience in areas such as:Mainstream or specialist schoolsAlternative provision settingsPrivate tuitionYouth work or pastoral support rolesKey qualities we value include:Effective behaviour management delivered withempathy and understandingExperience supporting learners withSEMH or additional needsStrongwritten and verbal communication skillsThe ability towork independently and remain calm under pressureReliability, patience, and emotional resilienceUnderstanding ProgressSuccess in this role doesnt always look traditional.Sometimes progress means:A student remaining engaged throughout an entire sessionCompleting work without frustration or escalationGradually rebuilding trust with a supportive adultIf you recognise these moments as meaningful achievements, this role may be a great fit for you.
