Service Technician - Solar & BESS

Astute's Renewable Team is partnering with a renewable energy provider with a commitment to professional development and sustainability within the solar industry, to recruit a Service Technician for a field-based role covering Colchester and surrounding areas.If you want to know about the requirements for this role, read on for all the relevant information.The Service Technician role comes with a salary between 45,000-61,500 depending on experience, as well as company van & fuel card.If you're an electrically bias Technician or Engineer and are looking to work for an organisation that puts integrity and people at the forefront of everything it does, then submit your CV to apply today.Responsibilities and duties of the Service Technician roleReporting to the Operations Manager you will:Performing both planned preventative and reactive maintenance on electrical, mechanical, communications, structural, and security systems.Identifying and rectifying faults within solar PV and battery storage systems.Conducting inspections, completing detailed reports and work orders, and maintaining accurate site documentation.Overseeing site and vehicle stock control while ensuring all work is carried out safely and in compliance with regulations.Supervising contractors, delivering site inductions, and promoting safe systems of work.Participating in a weekend on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support.Travelling to assist other regions when required, including overnight stays.Engaging in ongoing technical, on-site, and classroom-based training, with opportunities for international training.Demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental responsibility and biodiversity by proactively supporting site upkeep and sustainability initiatives.Happy to participate in an on-call rota (1 in 3 weekends).Professional qualificationsWe are looking for someone with the following:Qualified Electrician or Electrical Engineer (BS7671).Inspection & testing experience (C&G 2391 52 or equivalent or working towards).Personal SkillsThe Service Technician role would suit someone who is: Strong background in solar PV installation and maintenance, utility-scale experience is ideal. Experience with inverters/PCS (SMA, Sungrow, Power Electronics, Gamesa, etc.) highly desirable. HV experience preferred (Switchgear, transformers; AP/SAP training up to 33kV advantageous). Great problem-solving ability and confidence working independently. A proactive attitude, good communication skills and a steady approach Enjoy working outdoors in all weather.
