Every project and client relationship is approached as a trusted partnership, with a commitment to delivering seamless solutions from concept to completion.Role Overview We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our client’s growing commercial team. This is a key role, responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of residential projects ranging in value from £1m to £10m.The role requires a balance of hands-on cost management and leadership, including mentoring junior surveyors, driving profitability, and maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious commercial professional who wants to play a central role in a progressive, forward-thinking contractor that is delivering some of the UK’s most exciting residential developments.Location: Southern Hertfordshire, within the London commuter belt (site-based / Head Office as required)Reports to: Commercial Manager / DirectorKey Responsibilities Lead the financial and commercial management of residential projects from pre-construction to completion, including budgets, forecasts, cash flows, and CVRs.Oversee valuations, applications for payment, and certification of subcontractor accounts, while identifying, pricing, and agreeing variations, claims, and compensation events.Manage procurement and subcontractor processes, including tendering, negotiation, appointment, and performance monitoring.Administer JCT Design & Build contracts (and similar), ensuring compliance with obligations, and advise on commercial risks with mitigation strategies.Mentor and support junior surveyors, fostering professional development and maintaining a collaborative team environment.Represent the company in client meetings and commercial negotiations, providing accurate cost advice to support project decision-making.Key RequirementsProven track record as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the residential contracting sectorStrong knowledge of JCT contracts and construction law.Excellent financial, analytical, and reporting skills with close attention to detail.Confident negotiator with strong communication and client-facing ability.Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously within a mid-sized contractor environment.
