Assistant Commercial Manager Location: Brize Norton, Witney, OX18 3LX Salary: 41,000 - 50,000 (no movement on this band) Car Allowance: 4,300 Travel: Required to different sites - driving licence essential Security Clearance: SC or ability to obtain About the Role We're seeking a proactive and commercially astute Assistant Commercial Manager to support a high-profile Ministry of Defence (MoD) facilities management contract. This role is vital for ensuring strong financial and commercial control across the contract, with a focus on supply chain management, cost assurance, and performance reporting. You will work closely with operational teams and subcontractors, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely delivery across all financial and commercial aspects of the contract. Responsibilities Supply Chain & Subcontractor Management: Draft, issue, and manage subcontracts in line with company and MoD requirements. Lead regular commercial and performance review meetings with subcontractors. Assess and approve subcontractor applications for payment, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Ensure timely payments to subcontractors according to contractual terms. Commercial & Financial Control: Manage Work in Progress (WIP) and provide accurate financial reporting. Collaborate with operational teams for prompt job closure and client billing. Monitor contract P&L performance, identifying risks and opportunities. Review and analyse Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports and advise on corrective actions. Manage Contract Variations and Changes for assigned areas. Systems & Reporting: Use Maximo for job tracking and asset management. Use COINS for subcontract management, financial tracking, and reporting. Maintain accurate records for audit, compliance, and contractual standards. Prepare and present commercial reports to internal stakeholders and the client. Requirements Experience in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, ideally in Facilities Management or Defence. Strong knowledge of subcontractor management and commercial processes. Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis). Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. High attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities. Ability to work collaboratively with operational teams and external partners. SC Security Clearance (or ability to obtain). Why This Role? Work on a high-profile MoD facilities management contract.
